An innovative entrepreneur and advisor to businesses since 1989, Jim Kendall has hands-on awareness of the challenges small and mid-size businesses face.
● For more than 10 years, he has written a popular weekly newspaper column, “Jim Kendall on Small Business,” that appears each Monday in the Daily Herald. The third largest paper in Illinois, the Daily Herald circulates in Chicago's affluent Illinois suburbs.
● His newest initiative, “Business Owners’ Pod Talk,” is a free podcast series for business owners who listen in on interviews Jim conducts with knowledgeable business experts.
The podcasts follow a successful format he developed as creator, producer and co-host of “Talking Business” on public radio station WDCB, a jazz-formatted station heard throughout the Chicago metro market.
● Jim serves as an advisory board member for a wealth management firm and earlier was a Board member for the Fox Valley Micro Loan Fund, a lender to small businesses with potential but too much risk for traditional lenders. The Fund became part of Accion Chicago.
● Jim has been a mentor at the Center for Professional Excellence at Elmhurst (IL) College, helping students prepare for their entry into the workforce; creator and producer of syndicated radio and television programming; and editor of business publications in the financial and food sectors.
He also has taught at local Small Business Development Centers and is founder and president of Kendall Communications – but you probably figured that out by now.
